  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
For the glaze
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk for consistency

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt until a dough forms.
  5. Press about two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  6. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  7. In another bowl, combine the remaining dough with oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the cherry filling.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  2. Let your bars cool completely in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk together powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze, then drizzle it over the cooled bars.

Notes

For best taste, use fresh cherries and consider mixing in some chopped nuts for added crunch.
